The highlight of the event was undoubtedly the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3. A flagship foldable smartphone, it’s the kind of thing that might change your viewpoint on what the best smartphones (opens in new tab) involve. The smartphone offers dual 120Hz displays which means you’ll be able to scroll through content in a silky smooth fashion. It also has support for the S Pen which should help it rival the best tablets (opens in new tab) out there. There’s also IPX8 water resistance for the bold who want to use their expensive smartphone near water, plus there’s an under-display selfie camera for the main screen.  The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 also has an experimental setting that will allow any app to be used in the phone’s multi-window mode, even if the developers haven’t designed it to do so.  And how much will it cost? It’s pricey at a whopping $1,799 and will be available on August 27th with preorders available from now. Alternatively, there’s also the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 which will start at $1,000. It has the same processor and water resistance rating as its bigger sibling, but it’s cheaper because it’s a clamshell foldable rather than a fully fledged foldable smartphone. It should still be more than comprehensive enough if you’re looking for something a bit different though. The best smartwatch (opens in new tab) out there could change soon too with news surrounding the Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 and Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 Classic. Both are the new models of previously very good smartwatches anyhow. They now come with a new Exynos processor so they’ll be faster than before but, more importantly, they also have a new operating system. Rather than solely using Samsung’s proprietary Tizen OS, the new OS combines Google’s WearOS with Tizen which brings with it more features including sleep tracking and other health-related tools. These include a new 3-in-1 BioActive sensor that can measure your body fat percentage which could be useful. The Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 Classic also marks the return of Samsung’s rotating bezel which has been a favorite amongst smartwatch fans in recent years.  The Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 and Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 Classic starts at $249 and $349 respectively with them both going on sale August 27. If you’ve been considering buying the best headphones (opens in new tab) lately then the Samsung Galaxy Buds 2 may sway you instead. They’re true wireless earbuds that are smaller and lighter than the Samsung Galaxy Buds+ before them and include active noise cancellation. The ANC feature means you have access to three adjustable ambient sound levels with Samsung bundling in a machine learning feature that aims to filter out noises when you’re trying to talk to someone. They will cost you $150.  Expect to see Samsung push its new tech heavily over the coming weeks with an eye to making foldable phones more attractive to everyone.
